Bochum is a very traditional Ruhrgebiet city. Once known for coal and steel, it is nowaday popular for its nightlife.  Since 1988, Bochum is also the host for the famous musical 'Starlight Express'.

Another big attraction is the former railway depot with the largest private railway collection in Germany. 120 vehicles are displayed in a 46,000 sq. mi. area. The Railway Museum offers  space for up to 500 people.

Located in the western part of the Ruhrgebiet, Dortmund is the largest city with around 600,000 plus inhabitants, and is the 8th largest city in Germany. The city used to be the number one beer city in Europe back in the 60's and was also very famous for steel (Hoesch).

Nowadays it is famous for culture and sports (Borussia Dortmund).

Dortmund offers  large areas for meetings and events. A very famous example is the Westfalenhallen exhibition area, including several hotels in walking distance. The Dortmunder U-Turm, a former brewery,  is also a famous example of the post industrial process and is nowadays a center for arts, dinning, clubbing and meetings.

The Signal-Iduna-Park, home of the football club Borussia Dortmund,  welcomes you with terrific meeting/event facilities and also offers a large variety of entertaining programs. The Duisburg inland harbour is considered the largest in Europe. With an overall consideration of public and private port facilities, they combine as the largest inland port in the world with a total area of 10 sq.mi.

Another great destination for events is the Landschaftspark Duisburg, which is a huge abandoned industrial area with different facilities available for public use.


The city of Essen located in the middle of the Ruhrgebiet, accommodates some main key industry companies and has a huge and colorful supply of high class restaurants. The former host city of the RUHR 2010, European Capital of Culture, offers cultural activities around the famous river Ruhr and the lake Baldeneysee. A lot of former industrial facilities are nowadays a spectacular place for event and meetings.

Also the Messe Essen is a famous exhibition and convention centre, hosting some world famous events lik the oldtimer car show Techno Classica or the Essen Motor Show.




In 1865 the sonorous name "North Star" (Nord Stern) was the name for the mine in the Gelsenkircen area, which was back then the northernmost mine in the Ruhrarea. Today the are is known under the name Nord Stern Park.

In 1993, after more than 130 years of coal production, the last underground mining tour ended. This final stroke marked the beginning of a successful change: An industrial park was built, as well as countless new homes.  A new legacy started withthe Federal Garden Show 1997 - a landscape park with numerous attractions, such as the amphitheater.

The beer gating in the amphitheater Gelsenkirchen is nestled in the North Star Park, right on the Rhine-Herne Canal.

The main attraction is of the city is the huge shopping mall named "Centro", and the famous Gasometer (former gas holder), which offers a unique space for special exhibitions.
